Japanese grammar 2
My friend asked me 'Which translation is correct??'
'You are my friend.' → into Japanese!!
>>①Anata ga yūjin da! (あなた が ゆうじん だ。)
>>②Anata wa tomodachi desu! (あなた は ともだち です。)
>>③Anata wa otomodachi desu. (あなた は おともだち です。)
I recommended him ③.
③ sounds like more natural Japanese.
Today I'll try to explain the difference of ①, ②, ③
In these sentenses, there are 3 points.
«1» ga / wa
«2» yūjin / tomodachi
«3» tomodachi / otomodachi
«1» What's the difference of '' ga = が / wa = は ''
When you use 'ga = が', we sounds like 'You Are my friend!!'
When you use 'wa = は', we just sounds like 'You are my friend.'
That means 'ga = が' is more limited expression for us^^
«2» What's the difference of ''yūjin = ゆうじん / tomodachi = ともだち''
ゆうじん is a formal style of 'friends'.
ともだち is very casual style of 'friends'.
That's it^^
«3» tomodachi = ともだち / otomodachi = おともだち
When you put 'o = お' before ともだち, you can make polite language easily^^
For example
to-fu = とうふ → o to-fu = おとうふ / (tofu)
hashi = はし → o hashi = おはし / (chopsticks)
miyage = みやげ → o miyage = おみやげ / (souvenir)
ka-san = かあさん → o ka-san = おかあさん / (mother)
to-san = とうさん → o to-san = おとうさん / (father)
But please keep your mind that some words cannot be fit in the grammar rule.
(You cannot say 'o yūjin' , you can say 'Go yūjin' ^^;)
Japanese is very difficult to learn..
But that's the interesting point, i think♪
Just get used to it^^;
